Crafting Learning Objectives For IFS Cloud Training Sessions

In IFS Cloud training, Learning Objectives are the specific skills and knowledge areas that End Users are expected to develop and demonstrate while working on the IFS Cloud System after completing each session on IFS Cloud Training.

Why spend time on crafting Learning Objectives for IFS Cloud Training Sessions?

Setting Clear Expectations: Learning objectives set specific, measurable outcomes for IFS Cloud trainees, ensuring focused training.

Planning for Training Delivery: They help IFS Cloud Trainers plan and deliver previously structured content.

Assessment and Evaluation: Learning objectives act as cornerstones to facilitate assessments to measure trainee progress and training effectiveness.

Crafting Objectives: Key Questions To Consider

Before writing learning objectives, it's important to answer questions related to the respective IFS Cloud training session:

What should end users be able to do after attending this session?

Example:

Create bookmarks for frequently used pages, navigate to recent screens, and perform a basic search.

What do end users need to know or do to bridge the gap between their current tasks and post-IFS implementation tasks?

Example:

Current Task: Updating schedules weekly in the current planning application.

Future Task: Opening PSO to verify the weekly schedule for a technician.

To Bridge the Gap: Learn to navigate to the PSO screen and understand the steps to view the weekly schedule.

If participants could learn only three subtopics in this session, what would they be?

Example:

In the IFS Cloud Search Functions session, end users must grasp locating the search panel, performing a basic search, and adding search fields.

Writing Measurable Learning Objectives

Crafting effective learning objectives involves two key components:

Identifying the Action --- This is a clear action that End Users are expected to be able to perform by the end of the course.  Keeping all the key considerations in mind, its important to derive definite actions that End Users will be able to perform after the training session.

Example

Arrange Bookmarks in the Bookmark Bar

Search for all records between any two dates.

Defining an Observable Manifestation: The specific, observable outcome of the action identified above. This explains what an end user will be able to do if they master the stated action.

Example

Action - Arrange Bookmarks in the Bookmark Bar

Manifestation of the Action - End Users can quickly navigate to frequently used records or screens of choice.

Learning ObjectiveAt the end of this session, the End Users will be able to quickly navigate to any records or screen of choice that is frequently used via the properly arranged Bookmarks in the Bookmark Bar

Example of a well-defined Learning Objective

Using the two components above, a learning objective for the IFS Cloud Search Functions training program might be:

By the end of the course, End Users will be able to Search for all work assignments between any given two dates to find the unassigned tasks between those dates.

Conclusion

Crafting clear and measurable learning objectives for IFS Cloud training sessions ensures that end users gain the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks efficiently.

It helps trainers plan and deliver effective training while also providing a means to assess trainee progress and the overall effectiveness of the training program.
